Fire At Three-Story Norwalk Home Displaces 10

A fire at a three-story Norwalk home left 10 people homeless when the structure was gutted by smoke and fire.

The fire started around 11:56 a.m. Saturday at 34 Kossuth St., said Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Stephen Shay.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found fire showing on the second and third floors, he said.

"All 10 occupants managed to get out in time there were no reported injuries," said Shay. "However the house was gutted and is posted unfit for occupancy."

The Red Cross is putting up the 10 residents with temporary shelter, Shay added.

Firefighters brought the blaze uncontrol in about 30 minutes.

Four engines two truck companies responded. 

The Fire Marshal remained on scene to determine the cause.
